St. John's Memorial Hall

To see what is scheduled in the hall right now check out our parish calendar.

St. John's Memorial Hall was built in 1970, thanks to the generosity of the late Mrs. Mabel Gutzeit U.E.L. 1881 - 1968, (formerly Mabel Fairfield). Mrs. Gutzeit, whose ancestors had been members of St. John's church for many years, left a large bequest to St. John's for the purpose of building a hall on the lot adjacent to St. John's Cemetery, facing County Road 7. Mrs. Gutzeit had earlier purchased this lot for the Church. The Building Committee hired Mr. Allan Harpell as contractor for the project. The Hall was dedicated on February 28, 1971 by the Rt. Rev. J.B. Creeggan, Lord Bishop of Ontario.

Prior to building St. John's Memorial Hall, the Parishioners used the "Old Parish Hall" on Davy Street, which is now known as the "Layer Cake Hall". It is currently occupied as a Public Library.

The hall was refurbished and fully modernized in 2006 with the addition of central air conditioning and heating systems. The hall is wheelchair accessible, with modern washrooms and fully equipped kitchen. It serves the wider community and is able to accommodate groups from 10 to 200 people for meetings, dinners, dances, wedding receptions and other events of every description.
